Geotex is looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented geotechnical logger to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting field investigations, logging soil and rock samples, and providing accurate and reliable data to support our geotechnical engineering projects. You will work closely with our geotechnical engineers to ensure the quality and integrity of our data and provide valuable insights into subsurface conditions.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Log soil and rock samples in accordance with industry standards and project requirements, using appropriate software and tools.
  • Identify and classify soil and rock samples based on visual and physical properties, and record detailed descriptions and measurements.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of field data and documentation, and maintain detailed records of sample locations, depths, and other relevant information.
  • Communicate effectively with other team members, including geotechnical engineers and project managers, to provide updates on field work and data collection.
  • Comply with safety procedures and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment at all times.
  • Travel to project sites as needed, and work flexible hours as required to meet project deadlines.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to withstand moderate physical activity (standing, lifting, walking, bending, stooping over, reaching, etc.)
  • Ability to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift 75+ lbs.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in geology, environmental science, or related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in geotechnical logging or related field work.
  • Knowledge of geology, soil mechanics, and rock mechanics principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with drilling equipment and tools, and ability to operate and maintain them properly.
  • Proficiency in logging software, such as gINT, Wincore and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and other relevant certifications or licenses preferred.
