Senior Project Managers oversees testing, inspection, and certification services from initial client proposal through field testing execution, laboratory analysis, and final report closeout. This role is fully accountable for project financial health, technical compliance, and client satisfaction. You will lead and mentor a team of project manager personnel while acting as the primary face of the firm to contractors, developers, and engineers.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Project Execution & Quality Assurance: Manage multiple, concurrent large-scale CMT projects. Review construction plans and specifications to ensure all field operations (sampling, testing, special inspections) comply with ASTM, AASHTO, ACI, AWS, and IBC standards.
  • Field & Lab Operations Oversight: Coordinate the scheduling, training, and performance of field technicians and inspectors. Oversee laboratory analysis workflows for materials like concrete, soil, asphalt, masonry, and structural steel.
  • Technical Review: Interpret laboratory and field data. Review, sign off, and approve field observation reports and final deliverables to ensure strict accuracy and timely submittal.
  • Financial Management: Build and manage project scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and resource planning. Direct the billing process, monitor utilization rates, and mitigate financial variances.
  • Client & Stakeholder Management: Serve as the chief point of contact for clients, general contractors, engineers, and internal staff. Proactively resolve field-testing anomalies or scheduling timelines.
  • Business Development: Support regional growth by assisting with technical proposals, estimating test-item costs, and nurturing long-term client relationships.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Directly supervise and mentor a team of Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers and elevate technical excellence within the field technician staff.
  • Other duties as required.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to withstand moderate physical activity (standing, lifting, walking, bending, stooping over, reaching, etc.)
  • Ability to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Experience: 7 to 10+ years of progressive experience in construction materials testing, special inspections, or geotechnical engineering, with at least 3 to 5 years in a direct project management capacity.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related engineering field is desired but not required.
  • Licenses & Certifications (Preferred/Required): Advanced industry credentials such as Post Tension, TxDOT, NICET, ACI, or ICC certifications.
  • Technical Competence: Expert-level knowledge of structural plan reading, engineering practices, and standard laboratory test procedures.
  • Software Fluency: Proficiency in industry-specific project management and reporting platforms like QEST, Procore, Excel.
