Sabine Creek WWTP Expansion
Sabine Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant – Royse City, TX
In one of the fastest-growing corridors of North Texas, the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) is expanding the Sabine Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) to help meet the region’s future wastewater needs. The project will increase the plant’s capacity from 3.0 to 7.0 million gallons per day, ensuring continued service to Royse City and surrounding communities.
Geotex was proud to support Eagle Contracting with comprehensive construction materials testing and geotechnical services that helped keep the project on schedule and compliant with quality standards.
Our scope of services included:
- Earthwork observation and soil compaction testing
- Drilled shaft installation observation
- Reinforcing steel and cast-in-place concrete inspections
- Post-tensioning system observation
- Masonry inspection
- Structural steel observation
In addition to materials testing, our geotechnical team designed and implemented axial and lateral load testing to validate the drilled shaft foundations for the plant’s new headworks structure. We recommended bi-directional load testing using Osterberg cells, a method that:
- Delivered faster and more accurate results than traditional top-down tests
- Provided a 2X Factor of Safety
- Supported more cost-effective design adjustments
- Enabled the team to stay on schedule, with verified results delivered in under 40 days
This project is a strong example of how responsive service, technical innovation, and collaborative delivery allow Geotex to help clients achieve infrastructure goals under tight timelines.
