Geotex is pleased to announce the 2024 recipients of the Women in STEM scholarship program for female high school students passionate about pursuing a career in the Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics fields.
“Geotex’s scholarship program is designed to encourage upcoming female leaders in STEM,” said Amy Brothers, P.E., president and owner. “We extend our deep congratulations to the 2024 recipients. It’s an honor to support the next generation of women engineers and scientists, empowering them to shape the future with their passion, curiosity, and innovative spirit.”
Through their respective school districts’ education foundations, the following students have been awarded scholarships for their year post-secondary education in a STEM field:
- Norelle De Luna of Little Elm ISD (Texas) will study Aerospace Engineering at the University of Texas, Austin.
- Sophie Ocker of Aubrey ISD (Texas) will study Animal Science Pre-Vet at Tarleton State University.
- Gabrielle Butler of Collinsville ISD (Texas) will study Astrophysics and Astronomy at Baylor University.
The scholarships are particularly important as women make up a little more than one-fourth of the workforce in science, technology, engineering, and math. The gender gap is particularly high in some of the fastest-growing and highest-paid engineering and technology fields.
In addition to these scholarships, Geotex is also proud to support over 65 active education projects across 20 North Texas and Southern Oklahoma School Districts. From foundation design recommendations and construction materials inspections, the firm’s specialized team of experts has supported architects, engineers, contractors, and educational administrators to guarantee that each school construction project meets the highest standards of quality.
