We end our 15 Notable Projects Countdown with a school that’s still taking shape—but already stands as a symbol of what’s ahead: Prosper ISD’s Richland High School, scheduled to open in August 2025 after a fast-tracked, two-year construction schedule.

Located on an 85-acre site, groundbreaking took place in August 2023, and the completed campus will be a cornerstone of Prosper ISD’s continued growth.

Campus Highlights

• 530,000 SF, two-story academic building
  • Career and Technical Education (CTE) spaces

  • 2,200-seat arena
• 75,000 SF Athletic Field House

Geotex’s Role

Geotex provided geotechnical engineering services during design and is currently delivering construction materials testing throughout the build. Services include:

Geotechnical Services:

• Subsurface exploration
• Foundation and pavement design recommendations
• Earthwork and grading considerations

Materials Testing:

• Earthwork testing and observation
• Pier installation monitoring
• Concrete, asphalt, and masonry testing
• Reinforcing and structural steel inspections
• Fireproofing observation and code compliance

Solving for a New Standard

During construction, the International Building Code (IBC) was updated—dramatically increasing fireproofing testing requirements:

• Thickness testing every 1,000 SF (previously 10,000 SF)
• 25% of all structural members must be tested
• Density and bond testing every 2,500 SF

To adapt, Geotex partnered with the general contractor to create a custom tracking tool that maps every test by area and member type. This live spreadsheet ensures inspections are completed before finish materials are installed, keeping the project compliant and moving forward.

Richland High School is more than just another job site—it’s a testament to thoughtful planning, engineering agility, and trusted collaboration. We’ve completed over 50 projects for Prosper ISD since 2015, and this one is a meaningful milestone as we celebrate 15 years of serving North Texas.
